A hearty welcome to SanDee&amelie's challenge blog!

Please, note, that this challenge blog is not related to any business and run without any profit by people, who do this for your and their own leisure time fun! Our only reward are your encouraging comments and your playing along and sharing steampunk fun and mixed media techniques. We appreciate every single entry and comment so much! Thank you for taking the time!

If you are new to this place, please, know that we are so glad that you stopped by our little steampunk corner!
Whether you are a dedicated tag or card maker, art journaler or mixed media lover - this might be the right place for you!
For more information about the rules and the little "steampunk/industrial twist" we ask of you, please check the "about" stuff and then simply jump in and create!

If you are new to steampunk and not sure if this is "your thing", maybe take a look at our winners gallery on pinterest (use the linking button on our side bar). You will find that we're mainly a mixed media challenge blog with a little twist towards steampunk, industrial and/or vintage. So why not give it a try?

We are looking forward to seeing your fab projects entered to one of our challenges soon!

Boozybear Special I

Servus, hi and welcome to a special feature we're starting today, showcasing the fantastic chipboard pieces from our lovely prize sponsor Glenda aka boozybear being used by my wonderful DT!

We thought it was about time to give her fab steampunk chipboard pieces the attention they deserve and we will be doing so by showing steampunk/industrial style projects done by my wonderful DT - each using the same boozybear parts but in totally different projects and ways of using them so you can see how versatile these are and maybe also grab a little inspiration here and there for your own projects.

So throughout the next months you will find extra project posts over here - each done by one of my talented DT ladies and I am so happy to have the opportunity to not only show Glenda's amazing chipboard designs but also let my DT each have the stage to herself. (to make it easier for you to compare the projects I will add links to the previously posted boozybear projects to every new project post.) I find the idea thrilling to see how differently the same chipboard pieces can be approached. I hope you do too. ;)

As you all know - each month we have a prize draw among all proper entries and one lucky winner gets a surprise boozybear steampunk chipboard package. Glenda always puts together different prize bundles - so this could be just one possible "version":

Aren't these just stinkin' cool? And there are so many more to be discovered in her etsy store! (which reminds me that I just HAVE TO get me that Angler Fish!!!)
This example is also the bundle the DT received (thank you so much, Glenda! Mwah!) and used to create their projects for this special prize sponsor feature.

DT Member Kerstin
will kick off our boozybear special today with a beautiful altered box! Enjoy!

Today I would like to share with you a project that was made with some chipboards elements from our
Sponsor 'Boozybear'.
I thought it would be interesting to show some simple embossing techniques
which are very useful for a project in industrial steampunk style.
I used a gift box from a 1 € Store as base to make a new masculine mixed media gift box.

Before and After

First embossing technique - Clockfaces
  1. use an embossing ink pad, but press the chippie not so strong on the pad, only a little bit
  2. you will reach a randomly altered effect, like a weathered look
  3. then add an embossing powder, here Burnt Copper Leaves from Emerald Creek Dare, I love this awesome marble effect

Second embossing technique - Wings
  1. start with a base coat of black gesso, let it dry
  2. embossed the whole chipboard with a gear folder through a Cuttlebug, Big Shot or whatever you have
  3. rubbed silver metallic lustre (DecoArt) over the rough enbossed surface using your fingers

some steps images

some close up's

Hopefully you will now feel even more inspired
to create your own project with these amazing chipboards.
I'm very excited :-)

Happy crafting!

SASPC September 2017 Challenge - Round Two

Hi, servus and welcome to the second round of inspirational projects - created by Team B this time!
If you haven't taken a look at the makes of Team A and want to do so, simply read to the end of this post, where you will find a link to take you there.  If you haven't checked out who is among our Top5 or one of the prize winners from our summer special challenge, just do the same or scroll to the previous post. ;)

As always (or at least most of the time) the theme for this month's challenge is

Anything Goes - Steampunk/Industrial

and as always we would like to see any sort of handmade steampunk and/or industrial artsy fun. Be it a card, a tag, an ATC (or two), some altered art or canvas....whatever makes you happy is just fine!

So let's not waste more time and finally get in medias res - the makes of Team B!

Maybe you are in the mood for a small format - then

beautiful set of ATCs might be the perfect source of inspiration for you:

She used some of our sponsor boozybear's awesome chipboard pieces
alongside some real watch parts to create her
"Illusion of Time"

had a play with paint pouring, paper clay and the odd DecoArt stencil,
which led to this amazing tag:

had an old home decor piece at home - a ceramics hand - and she decided to alter it as she just loves the beautiful shape of it:

(the perfect home decor piece for the steampunk artist, isn't it?)

and I

Claudia -

had an experimental tag play with a stamped and masked image, a sponge and DecoArt Students', media and Extreme Sheen paints to create a quick fun and messy tag.

My heart runs on....

....steam, of course! ;) What else?

If you want to learn a bit more about how the projects were made or take a closer look, please, visit the blogs of Teams A and B - and if you take a sec to leave a short comment there you will make them very happy! Thank you!

Talking about Team A - here's the promised link to part one of our September challenge (you know that you can always get there by clicking on the badge on top of our side bar, right? but here it comes anyway:) HERE

And HERE is the link to our Top5 and prize winners post for the summer special challenge. Our September challenge still has two more weeks' time to be entered, so don't hesitate - create!
By entering our challenge you get the chance of becoming one of our prize winners for the DecoArt media or the boozybear chipboard prize bundle and/or one of our Top5! We can't wait to see what you will be sharing with us!

Hugs and happy crafting!

By now my head is back to (almost) normal - so let's see who has won the DecoArt media and boozybear prize bundles before we head on to our Top5 (which were once more very hard to pick and as there were quite a lot of follower ups I decided to announce a "Top 7" this time - which I think is quite appropriate for a two months "summer special" challenge, isn't it?)

September2017 Challenge - Anything Goes - Steampunk/Industrial

Hi, servus and welcome back after the summer break with our two-months long "summer special" challenge, dear creative steampunk and industrial style friends! Time to launch the September challenge, isn't it?

But before we do I want to thank all who played along during July and August for their amazing entries and for sharing their inspirational art with us! You really never fail to amaze me and the team and it is always such a treat to take a closer look at your makes! (I am still working on getting my commenting done as I have only returned from our holidays last week and took a total break from internet stuff during that time...so, please, bear with me if you haven't got any comments on your makes yet).
The Top5 and prize winners from our July/August summer special challenge will be announced on Saturday, 9th September.

But back to the actual challenge, which is - as usual - an

Anything Goes - Steampunk/Industrial

one. It's "business as usual" with challenge rules, which kinds of projects to enter (well, almost any kind you can think of as long as they are handmade and have at least a steampunk or industrial twist to them), one whole month to play along, two fab prizes to win - being donated by our wonderful  and generous sponsors

DecoArt Sponsor Badge

Glenda's Shop on Etsy:

and - last but not least - Team A kicking off the challenge with their inspirational projects:

used the fab "industrial window" from boozybear
to create this beauty:

created an "Old Stone Wall" tag,
packed with yummy texture!

combined a lot of media and beautiful elements
on this amazing steampunk canvas:

also came up with a beautiful canvas
and titled it
"The Heart has its Reasons"

fell in love with "rose gold",
so she had to make it the star on this delightful
wall hanging

Well, that should have done the job on getting you on creative steampunk track I think ;)
We can't wait to see what you will come up with again! If you want to share a little love I would like to ask you to visit the teamies' blogs (by clicking on their names) and leave a short comment there so they know you liked what you saw. Thank you so much!

Our challenge will be open until the end of the month. On Saturday, 9th September, we will announce the Top 5 and prize winners of this fab DecoArt media prize bundle

and a surprise pack of amazing

steampunk chipboard pieces!

All you have to do to win is have some creative fun and play along with us!

On the 15th there will be another round of inspirational projects created by Team B. So we hope to see you around then!

Hugs and happy crafting!
