Please, note, that this challenge blog is not related to any business and run without any profit by people, who do this for your and their own leisure time fun! Our only reward are your encouraging comments and your playing along and sharing steampunk fun and mixed media techniques. We appreciate every single entry and comment so much! Thank you for taking the time!

If you are new to this place, please, know that we are so glad that you stopped by our little steampunk corner!
Whether you are a dedicated tag or card maker, art journaler or mixed media lover - this might be the right place for you!
For more information about the rules and the little "steampunk/industrial twist" we ask of you, please check the "about" stuff and then simply jump in and create!

If you are new to steampunk and not sure if this is "your thing", maybe take a look at our winners gallery on pinterest (use the linking button on our side bar). You will find that we're mainly a mixed media challenge blog with a little twist towards steampunk, industrial and/or vintage. So why not give it a try?

"Your Favourite Technique Goes Steampunk" - April Challenge

Servus and welcome back to this month's challenge which is an invitation to show us your favourite technique used on your Steampunk make! You can of course incorporate several favourite techniques with your project as we know how hard it is to choose sometimes ;) - so let us see how it looks like when ...

Your Favourite Technique Goes Steampunk!

Thanks for all the wonderful entries for the "Transparency" challenge. Sadly this one wasn't to everyone's taste it seems or maybe simply the wrong theme at the wrong time.... but we loved all the projects entered and choosing will be as hard as always I am afraid ;) and we will try our best with the new challenge themes! ;)
And the more we would like to thank our true and regular players who make this place so special!

Top3 and prize winner will be announced on Saturday.

Today we have the wonderful pleasure to have lovely Barbara from yaya scrap & more with us and she has created one of her fabulously vibrant and colourful makes for our challenge. Yay!

I'm Barbara aka Barbarayaya on the web . I am very happy to be here with you!  Thanks for this wonderful opportunity!  I like to " play with the colors".
My  "artistic journey" began when I was very young . When I was five I cut pictures from newspapers and  I did collages , with time going on I have traveled many roads : decoupage, cardboard , classic scrapbooking with photographs, card making . And finally I met Tim Holtz's art . And I realized that that was my road, his style is closest to my personality ! But my creative journey  won't stop : I like to experiment constantly with new styles and my second love is for everything vibrantly colored and very similar to Dylusion Art and I'd love to start my first Art  Journal soon!

For the background of my canvas I chose to work  with gesso  and Distress stains and then use a themed stencil , at this moment I would say that the technique with stencils is my favorite!!!!  I love to use them with almost everything: spray paints, modeling paste , gesso, distress paints....I hope that you like my " dream Steampunk "!

Sooo brilliant, isn't it? Thank you so much for being with us, Barbara, and for creating this highly inspirational piece for our challenge!

And here come the makes of the DT:

Double effect : I love altered books and I love Andy Skinner's techniques.
It's a "Carnet de vol" (flight book )-  when you pilot a little plane you have a flight book. You write your flights, date, time....... I used a real old "carnet de vol" and added an airplane.

Object {D34-775}

When I received my prize from Tando Creative, among other things, there was a mask with a footprint, and it was inspiring to me as a keen reader of detective novels. You can probably understand my brain went to fabricate a story – the story concerning “Object {D34-775}". See more pictures and how I made it on Object {D34-775}

After much deliberation, I have finally decided what my favourite technique is. :) I created a 'distressed look' canvas using chipboards, paints and aluminium foil. I am so in love with the 'wrinkles' this technique creates!

My favourite techniques include paper mache, using found objects and assemblage. All three were heavily used on this MMM (= moustache messieurs make ;).

 As always there is a prize to win besides getting spotlighted or making it to our Top3 - all you have to do is enter a make that follows the theme and our general challenge rules to either the 2D or 3D collection at the bottom of this post! We would love to see which your favourite techniques are!

Hugs and happy crafting,
B, S, A, S&C
