Hi, servus and welcome to our October challenge, dear steampunk and industrial style friends!
The team and I have obviously been in Halloween mood already as our design team projects will show - and of course a mix of Halloween and steampunk/industrial is very welcome this month.
Our challenge theme is once again
Anything Goes - Steampunk/Industrial
and even if you are not heavily into these styles all it needs to play along is to add a recognisable touch of steampunk to your makes. And if you think "well, this way I won't make it into the Top5 compared to the heavy-dose-of-steampunk makes, just let me tell you you're wrong. And there is also the chance of winning one of our two monthly prizes donated by our generous sponsors
DecoArt and
boozybear! These are picked randomly among ALL proper entries and "proper" means that the entries stick to our few challenge rules (which can be found in the pages tabs below our blog header).
The challenge is as always open until the end of the month and I would once more like to remind you of the importance of
adding a link to our challenge blog to your entry posts (no matter if they are blog posts or coming from Instagram or facebook & Co) so we can include your entry with our Top5 picks and prize draws. It always makes me sad when I draw a winners number (using random.org) and then check if the entry post follows our really few (but for us important) rules to find I have to dismiss this number and draw another instead. Making people happy makes me happy, you know?
And as the challenge blog owner your always mindblowingly awesome entries make me
very happy - as well as the incredibly creative makes of my wonderful design team! So let's have a look at their projects (and I would like to invite you to take some more seconds before you wipe on to visit their blogs to check out their makes close up and
leave them a short comment - so they know their hard work gets seen and appreciated.
Thank you! You get to the team's blogs by clicking on their names).
Sadly
Brigitte aka coutureuse - my very first design team member since Sandra and I started this challenge blog (so to me she was kind of an SASPC primary rock and I couldn't imagine running this blog without her...but sadly now have to) - had to leave the team (real life issues...we sadly all know that) and we all wish her all the best and loads of good health and that things will get easier and well soon so she can (hopefully) return!
Brigitte, sans toi SASPC ne sera plus la meme chose! You will be dearly missed!
So it is the five of us now - Maura, Susan, Zoja, Kerstin and me - who will try to keep up with feeding your creative steampunk mojo with our makes! (
if anyone who loves steampunk and is already part of the DecoArt Outreach Blogger program thinks about applying for our design team now, please, go ahead - my email address can be found in our side bar. There's no payment or free stuff or anything like that - all I can offer is being part of this amazing team and the usual "fame and honour").
But let's start with presenting the design team's projects!
is cooking some "steampunk imagination brew" in her cauldron
and invites you to cook your own.
What a brilliant idea to use the gears as bubbles!
And I love the "knob" of the large stirring spoon!
So spooky! For more Halloween inspiration on Kerstin's blog,
created this stunning "Halloween Steampunk Board"
and wowed me once again with the vibrant
colours she used.
created this amazing mixed media piece
in honour of Edgar Allan Poe
and titled it
"With Love"
I love the stamped metal plate and the wonderfully worn cover surface!
And I especially love the quote she has put into the book box!
More pictures of the finished project on
her blog!
also wonderfully imaginative piece goes by the title "Toxique"
and she wonders (and also makes me wonder)
what on Earth this bird with the Fez is collecting here -
are these treasures or toxins?
(That Fez is making me giggle every time I see it)
I
had a joyful play with Tim Holtz Distress, stamps and techniques this time
and combined these with some DecoArt Liquid Glass
and Emerald Creek embossing powder
(can you guess where these were used?)
to create this funny Halloween tag that I call
"Life of the Steampunk Party"
Maybe this close up holds the clue
(this guy reminds me of someone...but I just can't figure right now who it is)
***
Well - that's our October bundle of Steampunk-Halloween-Inspiration and we hope you'll leave inspired to create and enter your own projects to our challenge soon! We can't wait to see what you will come up with!
Also do not forget to come back on
15th October to check out if you are one of our
Top5 and/or
prize winners from the September challenge! ;)
Hugs and happy steampunk crafting!
Claudia & the SASPC Team
