Yay! Finally it's time to introduce this year's
summer special challenge to you!
Thank you to all who counted down the days with us on
our new facebook group and to all who already joined in and have been sharing steampunk, vintage and industrial goodness with us over there! We hope that with your help we will be able to make this group a spot where you will always find additional inspiration and a place to share all your questions, ideas and thoughts about steampunk and steampunk art!
Our summer special challenge is a bit different from our usual challenges (erm...which is what makes it special I guess....lol) : you will have
two months time to join in and create and enter (up to three) projects and we offer
three prizes from our generous, wonderful sponsors instead of just one!! (these will as always be drawn randomly among all proper entries).
We decided to play another round of
Tic-Tac-Toe
for this challenge and here's the grid you are to choose from:
(click on image for larger view)
You are meant to create a project using at least
three ingredients from one line (vertical, horizontal or diagonal) of the grid. How you interpret the ingredients individually (if there
is some room for interpretation) is up to you - but
we need to know which line you have chosen - so, please, make sure that you include that particular information with your posts on your blogs!
You can of course include additional ingredients from the grid and also any other media you would like to use! And of course our challenge is once more an "
anything goes" as long as your makes are steampunk, vintage or industrial and you choose correctly from the grid!

And now let me proudly present our fab sponsors, who are giving away one voucher each for shopping with their wonderful online shops:
Thank you so much, Iris, Klara and Agnieszka, for being with us and donating such generous prizes! It's because of you (and our wonderful players of course) that this little steampunk spot is so wonderful and very special! Mwah! XXX

And what would the start of a new challenge be without the projects of my most wonderful DT?!!!
So here they are - and, please, throughout those two months maybe take some seconds and leave them some love and comments on their blogs so they know that their effort is seen and liked! I am sure you will make them very happy by doing so (well, who doesn't love getting comments, right?) and it is their only reward for the loads of love and labour they always put into their creations that are meant to inspire you!
line used: Words / Metal / Fabric
Claudia recently came to stay with me and taught me some wonderful paint
techniques. I really enjoyed using them on this 'very unlike me' grungy frame.
Along with some beautiful watch gears we found on Portebello Road and
some gorgeous text paper Claudia kindly gave me, this whole creation carries
some very special memories and will be very treasured

Bonjour a toutes ,
voici ma réa "les abîmes de l' océan "
j' ai utilisée:
craquelure, 3 éléments, tissu, rouille, fond océan +métal
Hi, all!
Here's my project "Ocean Derelicts"
I have used the lines: crackle, trio, fabric
plus deep sea, metal and rust
d'autres photos en détails seront présenter sur mon blog lors du challenge de juillet .
Claudia
line used:
the deep sea / metal (paint) / crackle
The deep sea is not only my son's favourite nature theme but also one of
mine. Thinking of Captain Nemo, Moby Dick, fascinating animals like the
Giant Squid or the Coelacanth, black smokers, sunken ships and the fact
that the surface of Mars has been explored in more detail than our
oceans....maybe my aquanaut is just about to discover a new species???
At first I set out to use our tic tac toe board as a sketch and make a
mixed media canvas using all the different elements in all the
appropriate places. You'll probably notice, though, that the project
evolved and not everything ended up where it should be, lol!
No rust and
no top hat/corset, but everything else is here, I promise! :) Check out
some close ups and technique explanations
on my blog.
My inspiration were the adventure stories from Jules Verne ( the godfather ;-) of Steampunk)
May I introduce Captain Nemo and the fascination of the world under the sea.
I used the vertical line from our great Mood board
Words, Stencils & Deep Sea!
line used:
Words - Metal - Fabric
Here in Copenhagen we miss all the good weather this summer!
Therefore, there is "summer time" in everyone's thoughts..

blog
line used: Top Hat - Metal - Rust
I just had to do a Mini Steampunk Top hat! I love making these hats and
this challenge provided the perfect opportunity. I used metal foil tape
and alcohol inks for this creation, among other supplies. Feel free to
pop by my
blog to see more. Carpe Diem! ~Niki
Hi everyone its time to play tic tac toe you have a whole two months to play
along with us. My creation is Words/ Stencils /The sea with a
few others thrown in for good measure.
As always it just developed/designed itself if you would like to see more
Cheers Dee x
My inspiration were two
lines:
deep sea/rust/leather and
top hat/metal/rust.
I created steampunk belt,
with ornaments, bottle holder, medallion (skeleton has top hat) and
handy bag. Rivets are rusty and most of metal elements have
turquoise patina (which reminds me of salty water, and sea)
If you want to see more details, drop in my
blog.

We wish you all the best and lots of joy and fun for your new endeavours, Maura, and we were so happy to have you with us!!!! XXX
And bien-venue, Nate! It's great to have you with us and I am sure having another French girl with us makes a wonderful addition to our international team! ;) xxx
