well, it looked a bit like the hot temperatures (and then maybe the terrible floodings) during the first half of June kept a lot of you away from their workdesks, since we only got few entries for our monthly challenge then (we already wondered if we chose a theme that wasn't up to your taste at all).
But then the second half of June has shown us that you are all still with us - THANK YOU all so much for the marvelous projects you have once more entered to our June challenge!
You can guess that it will be hard to select the TOP 3 (as usual;) - which will be anounced within a week.
So this month's challenge theme wants you to
create a project that incorporates
RUST!
No matter how - you can use Real Rust or any of the known media that create a rust-like surface (acrylic paint techniques, embossing powders and enamels, alcohol inks, rusted objects used with your creation ....even colours with the "name" of rust...) as long as it is Steampunk you show us!
We kindly ask new visitors to check out the rules stuff (to be found at the top of the page) and pay attention to enter their projects to the right collection as we offer both: a separate 2D (for tags, cards, paintings, drawings,...) and a 3D collection (for altered objects, 3D paper crafts and anything three-dimensional)!
For July we once more managed to get another special guest designer for our challenge - we proudly present you
thank you so much, Daniela, for
being our fabulous guest this month, and our generous prize sponsor too!
(To learn more about the prize that Daniela is giving away to this
month's winner, come back at mid month to check).
And this is what Daniela has prepared for your inspiration! So coooool, isn't it?
And this is how her guitar looked like during its making, after applying the Real Rust and some PanPastels.
For a more detailed StepxStep check out her blog.
And here's what Daniela told us about her (for the English translation, please scroll down a bit):
Hallo, |

Hi,
I am very pleased to be here as a guest designer this month with SanDee and amelie and I want to introduce myself a bit to those who haven't heard of me yet. My name is Daniela Rogall, I am shop owner of creavil and editor of "Just Stamps - einfach stempeln", a magazine for stampers, scrappers and Mixed Media artists.
I love to do workshops and also to communicate with creative people in private about my crafting hobbies.

This month is all about rust and patina, one of my favourites. I have been heavily into rusting for some months now, as I love this effect and it goes so well with Steampunk creations. The rusting process usually is quite time consuming, but there are means to speed this up or even imitate the look. Patina consits of deposits on metal surfaces and can appear in various colours due to the sort of metal. Rust is also patina, an ageing effect, only that rust (very slowly) destroys the metal it appears on. However rust has its very own magic and is often used for creating art.
With my example I used "Original Rust". This is a granulate that - once applied to the surface by rubbing it on and being based on ferrous oxide - immediately becomes real rust. Original rust can be combined with other colours, so you can add colour effects and imitate intense rust patina more plastically. So without any further ado we wish you a lot of fun with creating something "rusty" and look forward to seeing your awesome entries with our challenge soon!
Hugs,
SanDee&amelie

Hi, I just added my entry to the 2D section. It is a book, so maybe borderline 2D-3D, so I was a bit confused. I hope it's allright. Love what you all did with your rusty pieces =).
